This is my dad’s 30 minute braised pork belly. My father was a very busy chef so he barely had time to see me but when he did hed always make this dish which was regarded as one of my favourites from my dad. I Cherished this dish at a young age and i am still in love with this dish till this day! im glad i get to show you this lovely recipe which can easily be made in 30 minutes and by using just one pot! so it saves you time with cleaning and is mess free. There should be no excuses for not making this dish, even on a lazy day.
The secret to this dish is that its cooked covered with a blend of sauces, spices and veg which releases the juice of the pork and then transformed in to a thick and sauce which is perfect with white rice.
To prepare this dish you will need the following ingredients:
- 500g Pork belly slices
- 1 tbsp Minced ginger
- 1 tbsp Minced garlic
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 1 tbsp shaoxing wine
- 0.5 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 Spring onion – sliced .
In a pot/wok with a lid, add the following ingredients and mix until all the pork belly is fully coated in the sauce, spices and veg.
- 500g Pork belly slices
- 1 tbsp Minced ginger
- 1 tbsp Minced garlic
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 1 tbsp shaoxing wine
- 0.5 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp sugar
Now you want to cook this on high heat until the sauce starts bubbling. This should take around 5 minutes.
You then want to cover this and cook it on medium for 15 minutes
Slice the pork belly slices on a chopping board and then add it back to the sauce along with the sliced spring onions and then toss and mix well, ensuring that all the pieces are covered in the sauce.
Then cook this on high for 5 minutes to reduce the sauce
Its time for serving! its best to serve this with some white rice and garnish with spring onions.
